Healing water
Why thermal water has healing powers
The thermal water in Badenweiler draws its healing powers from the rock strata of the Black Forest. When it has made its way to the surface at just over 400 metres above sea level, it creates an artesian spring.
Artesian spring: Overpressure in the groundwater is relieved
An artesian spring always rises in a depression below the groundwater level, where the water is under excess pressure. In contrast to an artesian well, which has to be drilled, here it finds its way to the earth's surface under its own power to unfold its healing powers as thermal water.
Since the discovery of the healing spring by the Romans, around half a million million litres of healthy thermal water have poured into Badenweiler every day!
